maps® is a national, digital aerial photographic dataset that has been developed as a precision product for the GIS professional.

maps® is:

  • Compatible with Ordnance Survey 1:1,2500 scale mapping
  • Free of Crown Copyright
  • An ideal compliment to other precision geographic datasets

Orthophotos

maps® orthophoto offers detailed digital imagery referenced to the OS National Grid. UKP are using precision GPS technology to provide highly accurate ground control points ensuring that the maps® dataset which is completely free from Crown Copyright.

DTM

maps® Digital Terrain Model (DTM) is a 3D wire frame grid of the landscape which is generated and manually edited as part of the ortho-rectification process to remove inherent distortions typical of aerial photography such as camera tilt and ground relief. UKP is the only commercial company to produce a DTM as part of its commitment to a national aerial digital dataset. The terrain model is available as 1Km square tiles with a 10 metre grid spacing as standard.

Hard Copy

High quality photographic prints ranging from 1:10,000 scale (a 9" by 9" contact print) to a maximum scale of 1:800 from image subsets are available from the maps® dataset.

Updates

UKP is committed to updating the maps® dataset and is embarking on a programme to update areas of major change in the environment, which will be available to purchase in units of 1Km square.

Archive

The vertical and oblique archive resources of UKP, consisting of over three million images dating back to 1949 is an ideal compliment to the maps® dataset for identifying land change and use over time.
